Niagara Falls!!!

Woo and Hoo! I am so looking forward to this! Who's going from blogland?

I'm hoping to be in the same hotel as the majority of you. It's always more fun to be in the same place. I don't really care about a view of the Falls from my room. I don't plan on sitting there looking out the window anyways. *grin* As long as the rooms are clean, I'm not terribly fussy. I prefer chains like Days Inn, Comfort Inn, Travelodge, etc. but I will likely go with the flow as long as my bank account can manage it.

I've stayed in many hotels in the Lundy's Lane area during my ball tournement days and it's not that far to walk to get to Clifton Hill (where there are bars and stores) and then on down to the falls.

We stayed at the Marco Polo Hotel for years but near the end it was starting to go downhill and the hookers were becoming more and more prominent in the area. It was always good for a laugh to see some of the outfits they wore but we didn't have kids with us.

Unless something really bad happens *knocks on wood* Dave and I will be there. We will likely drive down on Friday afternoon so that we're there at a half decent time. I'm thinking of taking Monday off so that I have a day to rest up because I have a feeling I'm going to be a little short on sleep that weekend.

I really, really, REALLY want to go, but it sounds so expensive! I'm hoping that somebody who plans to camp will let me stay with them in exchange for chipping in some money for the campsite, cooking meals, sexual favors, or whatever.

When is this event to take place? (For those of us who don't keep track of OT anymore.)

Sorry Swami, I should have mentioned that. *holds out wrist for slapping*

July 7-9

I just started poking around on the Niagara Falls tourism website and got a price at the Travelodge of $80 per night Cdn. Not sure what the hotel is like but I've never been terribly disappointed with Travelodge. Yet, anyways.

I just want a hotel room close enough that I can stumble home to bed without getting lost.

DH will most likely NOT be coming with me. Not because of you peeps but the fact that if his family knows we're in town and don't stop by (regardless of the fact that we're there for a seperate function), we'll never hear the end of it. Stopping by for them requires a full out dinner with his dad's side, a seperate brunch with his mom and a hockey game for his sister. I would have ZERO time to hang with you peeps.

So, I am coming by myself, on the sly.

*reads HD's post*

I'll be um, camping. I'll need someone to help out with a few things...I'd even let them stay with me, in my tent. *grin*

(seriously, I can't go. But I will live vicariously through you guys)

I really really really want to go and I'm planning on it. I'll be solo so I still have to figure out how to get from the airport to the Falls. I can either meet up with someone at the airport and share a ride or I can take a bus.

The hotels are expensive but $80 sounds good. Not sure about Travelodge though. I'll have a look. The Travelodge we used to stay at in Dorval was a crappy place.

I also want to stay in a hotel that is clean but I don't need a Falls view. I also want to be close enough to the action that I don't need a car.

I would love to go, but can't. I'll be in Savannah that weekend if anyone is close enough to meet me and can do so after my family goes to bed around 9! *grin*

I'm so exctied to go! The hotels (at least any within 15 miles) are uber expensive, so I'm hoping to get a decent one for around $100/night. If Nolay wasn't with me, I'd offer to bunk multiple peeps in my room, but he snores like a chainsaw. I don't need a Falls view, I just want a fairly clean hotel room.

We'll leave WI on Thursday, stay part way (if Breezy isn't going, maybe we can come & see her that day). We'll hopefully hit Niagara Falls around noon on Friday & stay until Sunday morning.

I'm so psyched. *evil eye* You peeps had better show.....

Wish I was going, but I won't be attending either. I'm jealous of the ones who are. If I was going HD could stay with me.

HD, I'm all about camping, just not in the city. But if I thought it would be cheaper to tow my camper south with me, you'd be most welcome to bunk with us. I really hope you can make it to Niagara.

Kitty, don't worry, I'll make sure you don't get lost.

Too bad you can't make it mm. *pout*

I know what you mean Nookie. Most Travelodges that I've stayed in are quite nice. Only one wasn't up to their usual standards. It was in Orillia. If you fly into Toronto, we could always pick you up on our way by.

MTW, maybe after 9pm you could hop on a plane to Niagara. I promise we'd let you go in time to make it back by morning. *grin*

Kim, I can't wait to meet up with you and Nolay. Dave and Chris can talk fishing.

Too bad Sonya and Momma couldn't hop on a plane to come join us. Just think of the fun we'd have!

Sounds like everyone would be happy with a clean, not-too-expensive, fairly-close-but-not-overlooking-the-falls room. I'm sure we can find something like that. I'm not fussy, I'll go along with any choice that fits those criteria.

My idea of not too expensive is in the $80 to $120 per night range. Preferably closer to the $80 end. Does that sound about right with you?

July does not work for me, so I guess I will miss meeting you all. And darn! Because my sister lives 15 miles from The Falls so I would have had a nice place to stay. Maybe I will tell my sister she is Swami for a Day and send her instead.

It is turning out to be a bit more of a battle than I thought to go, because Eric really isn't sure he wants to do this and I genuinely cannot go by myself. Well, maybe if I was just with Philippe, but I still don't see myself driving all that way alone.

Still, if we do come, I would like to stay in a cheap motel ($80 is liveable) rather than camp. Clean is good.

Ummm, maybe Swami should tell her sister that HD is Swami for a weekend so he has a place to stay!

HD, how about Meemo? He lives nearby and would probably have room for you. Just a thought...

Coco, you must convince Eric to make the trip. Dave was a little hesitant at first but he's looking forward to it now.

I'm late to the party here, as usual. But, now that my thread offering to find out if we can get reduced rates for a block of rooms has more than 20 saying they're attempting to come I'll be contacting hotels for information.

It would be really helpful if those of you that want a hotel would either post to my thread or send me a PM or e-mail so that I can include you in the count. :)
