Tooth Trouble

Guess who just came back from an emergency trip to the dentist. For about a week I've had a sore front tooth. It's my front tooth and one that is part of a four-tooth bridge. Apparently it has abscessed. *sigh*

He gave me a prescription for anitbiotics and I have to contact my old dentist tomorrow to find out if it has had a root canal and if there's a post in it. If so I may be looking at oral surgery. *groan*

When I arrived at the office tonight the receptionist presented me with a $700 bill for my crown I had done in January. 2008 has not been a good year for my teeth or my wallet. *sob*

Ah, jeez. I have had several root canals and they are not fun. I didn't think a tooth could abcess after a root canal.

Maybe you can come down here and visit my oral surgeon who looks like a blue-eyed & blonde Norse God. It hurts less when your dentist is hot, lol.

{hugs} Lights.

I can so sympathize! *hugs*
I inherited crappy teeth. I need two implants right now, but they are so effing expensive.

No drugs yet, other than the antibiotics. So far the pain isn't that bad. The last time I had an abscess tooth was 29 years ago on my 18th birthday. I was pregnant and couldn't take any pain killers. That was when I really needed them!

The old dentist said there are pins so I'm getting a referal to the oral surgeon. She will determine if she can drill in through my bridge or if she'll have to cut through my gum to do a root resection. *shudder*

I had a root canal in December and the actual procedure didn't hurt but the aftermath did. I thought the same about a tooth that had had a root canal. Apparently there are sometimes little ends that can't be seen that can cause abscesses down the road. The oral surgeon who removed my wisdom teeth was like a norse god too. I wonder if they were twins. *grin*

Well if you're not using those Vicadin... *snicker*

I don't even want to think about how much this will cost. I may be looking for a part time job. Or maybe I'll collect bottles and cans. *giggle*

See, I wish I could focus on the Norse gods like Swami. Instead, I am focussing on the whole surgery on your teeth issue, which makes me feel all ooky.

Hope all is well with you, lights.

Other than the teeth and $$$, obviously. :-)

holy crap. Weirdest thing is that Michelle just finished her 10 day script this week. Why was she on Antibiotics? because she had a sore front tooth. It was the second tooth and one that is part of a four tooth bridge and it had abscessed. It looks like she is going to be having oral surgery in the next month or so. So I can understand what you are going through. *hugs*

*cue the twilight zone music* Crap! That's very bizzare indeed. You'll have to keep me posted on Michelle's situation. Does she have a bump on her gum? Did the antibiotics make her tooth stop hurting? My tooth is still sore after 4 days of pills. Tell Michelle I'm thinking of her and sympathizing.

Owie, owie OWWWWWWWW!

Hope the tooth is getting better. And that your insurance will cover oral surgery. Around here, my health insurance covers oral surgeons, but will not cover any other kind of dental work.

Update time...I spoke to my dentist office this week and the oral surgeon is on vaction until Monday (14th). After that they probably won't get around to me until the end of the month.

I finished my anitbiotics this afternoon so I'm hoping that it won't flare up again prior to month end. The dentist has called in another prescription for antibiotics just in case.

The tooth isn't hurting unless I touch the gum so I'm good for now but I'm still cringing at the thought of them cutting into my gums. *shudder* Thanks for the good thoughts.

She did get a bump on her gums. That's how it started. That went away and then she started hving tooth pain. She is off of her antibiotics and she has no more pain. But the dentist definitely wants to do some sort of surgery. For now, they are going to deep clean the pocket, put her on a four time a year cleaning plan and go from there. The surgery is up to her at this point. She is trying to figure out what she wants to do. *sigh*

Oh no, Lights, I'm so sorry! Nothing is worse than tooth pain. :(

I hope the antibiotics continue keeping the pain to a minimum until the surgery is over.

I don't know, MM, tooth pain and ass pain are just about equal. Ask anyone with roids, lol.

Lights, I hope it clears up for you and stays that way. I remember having an abscess like that, only mine was in the back of my mouth. I can imagine having one up front is more difficult to deal with. {{{Hugs}}}

Got the call today...July 15th is the day. They'll use a local and I'll be able to drive afterwards. Will take the next day off to lounge around and recuperate. Yay. I'm soooo looking forward to this. :(

Thankfully, the bump is almost gone and the pain has almost completely disappeared. Hope it stays that way until JULY!
