What To Wear

What are the well-dressed, smokin' hot, middle-aged women wearing to fancy schmancy weddings these days? Cause I want to pretend I am one in September at my cousin's wedding. *snicker*

I need ideas. Haven't been to a wedding (other than outdoor casual ones) for almost 20 years. It's on the first weekend in September so it could be hot.

Help!

Do you have a Kohl's there? I have gotten almost a new wardrobe there recently. I would try to find a dress, but you could do a skirt and a blouse too, if a dress doesn't work out. There are just so many new trends right now, you'll have to go see for yourself and decide what you like. Maybe you can get some cute fancy high heeled sandals, too!

Sorry, I guess I wasn't very helpful. But I do want to know what you end up wearing.

No Kohl's, just Sears. *pout* My sister bought a black skirt, frilly blouse and a little red pleather jacket. She's got boots to wear with it and it looks very nice. I'm so hopeless at putting outfits together so I usually end up with a dress.

Oh fer heck, I can't help you. I'll have to have Michelle help you. She dresses me for the fancy occassions.

I'm no help either. I try and try to absorb all the wonderfun hints that Pooh normally gives out and I fail miserably.

I'm hoping I'll need to go shopping this summer for new clothes, if this WW keeps working.

Sears? OMG...

Most more upscale stores have people who will help dress you. Just give them a price range and tell them the occasion, and they will put together a few nice looks (with all the right accessories) from their stock. Then you can go to Sears and try to duplicate it with affordable stuff.

Or you could just have Bravie send in Michelle.

Here are my thoughts.

September is technically still summer - until the 21st or so. So I think you can get away with a summer look.

Black is so acceptable these days for weddings, so I tend to lean toward black. I think there is also debate about hose. I never wear them if I don't have to, and I honestly think in the past five years, I have worn them a total of three times - all thigh highs, all black.

I'm pretty certain I have worn black to every wedding I've been to since my own back in 2001.

I'd defnitely go with a dress, not a skirt, for a wedding. It tends to look fancier, and hey, I know about fancy. :-)

3/4 length sleeves are good...hide the flab yet still look trendy.

The bias cut (diagonal) bottom hem is also super flattering and trendy.

As you are shopping, just remember the hot colors this spring might be too "springish" for September.
