Have I completely lost my mind?

This weekend I've agreed to play slo-pitch in a mixed tournament. I haven't thrown a ball in over five years. I don't even know where my glove is. I've have knee surgury since I quit playing and I am 4o freaking 5 years old.

So what's your vote?

Go for it and have a blast. I wish I could still play. Two torn achilles made it impossible for me to play again. *pout*

Yay! An update! I was going to add an "I miss you" on the last entry, so finding this was nice.

*ignores mean senior comments*

I think you'll pick it right back up, and be fine. Have lots of fun!

MM, Lightsie knows I'm older than she is, so I can tease her about a Senior League. However, if she is in the 'senior' league then I don't even want to know what my league would be called!

We're having a quick practice tonight at 7:30. I'll have a chance to see if I can still even HIT the ball. *giggle* Wish me luck. Not so much that I hit the ball, more that I don't get hurt!

Found my glove and cleats last night. Now all I have to do is find something to wear. I realized today that I don't even have any athletic pants.

When I quit playing I was really scared of the ball. After getting hit in the face three times I think I had good reason. And now I'm sure my reactions are much slower due to my senior status. *snickers @ Swami and Breezy*

It's not even an old-timer tournament, there will be all kinds of young whippersnappers playing too. They tell me I can play backcatcher so I should have a pretty good view of all those young male butts. *dirtyoldwomanleer*

I'm playing with a team from the reserve. There will only be three "palefaces" on the team. My girlfriend was laughing last night because at the meeting the organizers seemed worried about having a team of "drunken indians" playing. Funny thing is that the majority of the team don't even drink. I think that's why they picked up us "palefaces". *snort*

I too think you should play. I used to play fast pitch in high school. Then after graduating, I played in a company league that was slow-pitch and co-ed. I felt like an idiot because my timing was off going from fast to slow pitch. It took me a while to find my stroke.

The last time I played softball the men were all pretty good, and the women kind of sucked. Sad, but true.

So we made a rule that men had to be holding a beer at all times. That kind of evened things out. It was amazing how well the men could hit the ball holding the bat in one hand! Plus they ran the bases slower so they wouldn't spill the precious liquid.

Lightsy, believe me, you'll be very sorry Monday morning, so have lots of fun!!! I used to play a lot of softball, but haven't played on a team in several years. Every time I took a year off, I suffered loads of pain in unusual places until I was used to the motions again. Just don't try to move TOO quickly at first.

*swoons at Boo's softball history*
*offers to help her find her stroke*

After a practice on Tuesday and another one last night (during the Survivor premiere of all times) I am already feeling muscles I haven't felt in years. Tuesday night I was throwing great, like I played regularily. Last night it was a totally different story. Every throw was agony. Today I'm feeling a little better. I think I could do this again if I kept at it. My stroke is a little off too Boo but I still managed to hit to the outfield the majority of the time. Now they want me to play full time next summer.

Our first game is tomorrow morning at 8am, which means I have to be there at 7:30, which means I have to leave home shortly after 7am. That hurts worse than my muscles. *grin*

I'll have a full report next week. Hopefully I can include a picture or two as well.

*giggles @ Jen* I'll try to get a touchdown for you.

Aw shucks. Thanks guys. I'm trying to catch up on laundry, sleep and the new tv lineup. As soon as I recharge my batteries as well as the batteries in my camera I'll post that update.

The sore muscles are almost completely gone.

On a completely unrelated note, we bought $350 worth of groceries last night and Dave grabbed a can of ravioli for his lunch today. Was I wrong to give him shit?
